Template Synthesis of Co(II) Complexes of Tetraazamacrocycles

Tetraazamacrocycles, Cobalt(II) Complexes, Template Synthesis 2 + 2 Cyclocondensation o f benzil with aliphatic diamines viz. 1,2-diaminoethane, 1,3-diaminopropane, 1,4-diaminobutane, 1,6-diaminohexane, 1,8-diaminooctane or 1,12-diaminododecane in the presence o f Co(II) as a template yields a series o f pentacoordinated high spin Co(II) complexes o f the type [CoLX]X (where L = N 4 macrocycle having 12to 32-membered ring and X = NOj, Cl). The complexes have been characterized by elemental analyses, IR and dif­ fuse reflectance spectra, conductances and magnetic measurements.
